This meal contains duck meat as the only animal protein source and only vegetable sources that are known to have a very small chance of causing a hypersensitivity reaction, such as spinach, carrot, apple, beetroot and chicory.

Some dogs are allergic to certain nutrients. Research shows that when dogs have a food allergy, in more than 8 out of 10 cases it is a hypersensitivity to animal proteins such as beef, chicken or lamb. An animal that reacts to one type of protein does not necessarily have to be allergic to another type of animal. It is therefore important to find out which meal suits your dog. A small number of allergic dogs react to proteins (gluten) in grains such as wheat or soy.

As of yet, there is no reliable blood test that can determine whether your dog has a food allergy and if so, to which foods he is sensitive. The only reliable method is an elimination diet.

This meal contains duck meat as the only animal protein source and only carbohydrates that are known to have a very small chance of causing a hypersensitivity reaction, such as spinach, carrot, apple and chicory.

An elimination diet lasts at least 6 weeks. During this period, you give the dog NOTHING other than Energique Pure Duck and water. It is very important that you do not give your dog chew bones, sweets, cookies, table scraps, or chunks during this period. Also make sure that the dog cannot eat anything while walking.

Because you need to follow the elimination diet for at least 6 weeks, it is good to know that Energique Pure Duck is a complete meal that contains all the nutrients the dog needs. If you only feed duck meat, your dog would not get a complete meal.

Energique Pure Duck is suitable for puppies from 14 weeks of age.
